The Village of Carol Stream is dedicated to building safe, sustainable, and innovative infrastructure that enhances the quality of life for our community.  We have an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated Professional Engineer with a passion for public service, to join our Engineering Services team in this commitment.

Serving under the direction of the Village Engineer, the Senior Civil Engineer will have the opportunity to shape critical municipal projects including new development, roadways, stormwater, water distribution and other infrastructure systems through the planning, scheduling, design and construction oversight, of these various projects.  This includes the preparation and professional review of development plans ensuring compliance with Federal, State and local regulations; coordination of detailed project stages; plan and specification preparation including oversight of budget allocations, cost estimates, and the letting process for purchases and services; and grant acquisitions.  In addition, this role will oversee the work of the Civil Engineer and Inspection staff.

Qualified individuals must possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with additional Masters level coursework preferred.
  • A valid State of Illinois Professional Engineers License.  Certification as a Floodplain Manager (CFM) a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible municipal civil engineering experience or equivalent, with at least one year of supervisory experience.
  • A valid Illinois Vehicle Operator’s License.
